Print journalism placements

Print and online media India

Our print and online journalism projects in India are based at various English language publications and a PR company in Trivandrum, Kerala in the deep South of India. These include regional editions of the national press, travel and lifestyle magazines and various online media too.

The journalism projects in India are operated under the supervision of a local journalist in Trivandrum. When you join we will ask you to submit a CV detailing your previous media experience, as well as examples of your work. Your supervisor will then be able to allocate you to the various publications that best suit your background and interests.

The journalism placement offers a wide range of flexibility to fit your interests. If you've had little or no previous experience we'll start with one-to-ones with editors and freelance writers, who teach journalism. After this, or if you’ve had prior training or experience, we’ll place you at one of our partner newspapers, magazines or websites where you have opportunities to shadow journalists working in print, TV and editorial journalism.

India has a well-established English language media, with national and local newspapers ranking amongst the best in the world.

Amongst the publications you could work for are English language newspapers sold on a national scale, but with state editions. On these papers you will work with the editors and learn how their individual bureaus work and operate and what editors are looking for when you submit articles.

For those interested in writing articles and / or learning how to use editting software, our main placement is an internationally published tourism magazine with editing offices in Trivandrum – they will be interested in publishing your articles about your experiences as a tourist in India. You can also gain experience in page layout here.
